Don't I need a lawyer to write my Will and Power of Attorney?
No. There is no requirement in Canada for these documents to be prepared by a lawyer. There are minimum government guidelines required to make these documents legal which are part of EstateCoach guidance. Generally, the more complex a situation, the more appropriate is does become to employ a lawyer.
Doesn't funeral staff home
do all this work?
No, not typcally. Funeral home staff are usually well-focused on immediate needs like preparing and submitting government forms for CPP, survivor benefits etc. and provide general reminders for Executors. They typically do not have the staff, expertise or time to provide other detailed financial guidance and assist Executors.
How do I make an appointment?

Where do we meet?
We can meet in the comfortable familiar surroundings of your own home when in close proximity, virtual video online or, by telephone.
How do I receive my final documents?
Clients who live close enough for in-person meetings can expect in-person delivery. For the rest of Ontario, final documents will be shipped by courier with tracking.
How do I pay?
I appreciate e-transfer, debit and credit cards.
This sounds a bit like financial planning. Isn't there a special licence needed for this?
Yes it does, doesn't it? Since EstateCoach does not provide specific accounting, tax, insurance or investment advice, a license for EstateCoach services is not required. When a situation warrants it, we will refer you to licensed professionals.
Do you refer people to other professionals?
Yes. When it is determine you would benefit from specific financial advice such "What kind of insurance should I get?" or "How should I invest my money now?", you will be referred to one of our trusted and known licensed partners. Or, you're free to find your own. Either way, we'll tell you when more specific advice is needed and beyond our scope.
